ACT Research: Upcoming Emission Regulations to Benefit Smaller Engines

According to the recently released N.A. Commercial Vehicle On-Highway Engine OUTLOOK, published by ACT Research and Rhein Associates, engines over 10L accounted for 87% of Class 8 production in 2019 because of the high demand for tractors in the peak-cycle year. Demand for under 10L engines, used mostly in trucks, was softer last year. Additionally, the report noted that emission impacts in 2024 will benefit smaller/under 10L engines that are forecast to be about 16% of the market.

ACT Research: Class 8 Truck Engine Demand Trending to Smaller Displacements

Commercial Vehicle On-Highway Engine OUTLOOK, published by ACT Research and Rhein Associates, engines over 10L are projected to account for more than 85% of the Class 8 production between 2020 and 2024, however the trend to smaller displacement engines (11L/13L vs 15L/16L ) is expected to continue.
